Depending on one’s wish, chimpanzee trekking can start as early as 4:30 am which gives visitors a chance to witness how they start their day. One of the best gadgets to have on this adventure is the binoculars because chimpanzees live high up in the trees. They are naturally curios animals and therefore cannot easily be threatened by the presence of people. Apart from the chimpanzees, you will also have an encounter with monkeys like the Angola colobus (sometimes called the Rwenzori colobus). These are easily recognized by their black fur sorounded by contrasting long white locks on their faces, tips of their tails and shoulders. Other species include the blue monkey, mona monkey, olive baboons and the the extremely timid and nocturnal animals, the Strepsirrhini

In the afternoon, either enjoy the Canopy walk or the waterfall trail walk in the forest before exiting it. Nyungwe Forest offers visitors a rare opportunity to walk along the breathtaking liana and steel suspended canopy bridge through the dense forest. It is suspended about fifty metres off the ground and is not for the faint-hearted since it can prove challenging for people who are afraid of heights. Visitors are be able to see nests of chimpazees and other primates hanging in the canopies and the wide views of endless forest cover A combination of all these activities or any one of these activities is a reward and a wonderful experience. Later return to the lodge for an overnight
